In Irish myth, Lugh arrived at the gates of Tara and was asked what art he practised. He named one after another: builder, smith, harper, healer. The court had a master of each. None had someone who held them all. They let him in, and called him Samildánach, the many-skilled.
Our mark borrows the look of letters cut along a line, the way the oldest inscriptions were carved, and sets them on the horizon every trip heads towards.
A school trip asks the same of a teacher. Ildána holds the other arts, so they can give their full attention to the one that matters: the children in front of them.
